What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking a Junior or Intermediate Civil Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major Cork city centre project. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director and working within a well-resourced project team of 10+ professionals, this role offers significant exposure to heavy civil engineering delivery within the government sector.
The position has been created to support ongoing project demands and regional expansion. The successful candidate will contribute to cost management, measurement, subcontractor administration, and commercial reporting across a technically demanding civil scheme.
The business is open to considering a more senior-level candidate, with scope to reshape team structure accordingly. This flexibility provides an opportunity for ambitious QS professionals to step up in responsibility within a secure and established contractor.

Responsibilities

Assist in the commercial management of a major heavy civil engineering project.

Carry out site measurement and valuation of civil works.

Support preparation of CVRs, forecasts, and cost reporting.

Assist with subcontractor procurement, package management, and payment certification.

Manage variations, claims support documentation, and change control processes.

Liaise with site management, engineers, and client representatives to ensure commercial alignment.

Maintain accurate project records in accordance with company governance systems.
Criteria for the Role

Experience within a civil engineering contractor environment in Ireland.

Background in heavy civil, infrastructure, or government sector projects desirable.

2+ years’ experience for Junior/Intermediate level; more experienced candidates also considered.

Strong commercial awareness and ability to work within a structured project team.

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related discipline.

Ambitious, organised, and capable of operating in a fast-paced site-based role.
What’s On Offer
