What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join its team based in Tipperary. Reporting to senior commercial leadership, this role will support the delivery of mechanical and piping-focused projects from tender stage through to final account.
This position has been created to support increasing project demand. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cost estimation, procurement, measurement, and financial reporting across multiple projects, while working closely with engineering and site teams.
This role will suit a QS with mechanical or process experience who is comfortable working with technical drawings and enjoys a detail-focused, hands-on commercial role within an engineering environment.

Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and project resources.
- Carry out quantity take-offs and measurement from technical drawings and specifications.
- Assist with procurement and tendering processes, including supplier and subcontractor evaluation.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance, providing regular reports and forecasts.
- Administer contracts, manage variations, and support dispute resolution where required.
- Identify commercial risks and support mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including financial records and final accounts.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure alignment between design, measurement, and cost control.
Criteria for the Role
- 3+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a mechanical, industrial, or engineering environment.
- Ability to read piping isometrics and P&ID drawings and carry out accurate measurement from same.
- Strong understanding of cost control, procurement, and contract administration.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Full driver’s licence and own transport required.
