Job Description

Strategic Project Management & Planning Engineer

Intermediate & Senior Levels | Data Centre | Energy & Renewables | Infrastructure | Ireland

Opportunity Overview

  • Join a forward-thinking, engineering-led consultancy delivering major construction programmes across Data Centres, Energy, Renewables and Infrastructure sectors

  • A genuine career-defining opportunity with structured development, exposure to both pre- and post-contract delivery, and a clear pathway into senior leadership

  • Competitive salary packages from €48K to €105K+ depending on experience, alongside an exceptional benefits package and fast-track progression opportunities

Company Overview

Our client is a modern, fast-moving consultancy specialising in strategic project management and planning across the construction and infrastructure sectors. With a growing team and an international project footprint, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-level planning and project controls solutions across complex, large-scale programmes.

The team operates closely alongside major contractor delivery teams, combining technical planning expertise with broader strategic project management capability. Engineers are encouraged to think beyond programme management alone — understanding the commercial drivers, project risks, procurement strategy and delivery methodology that influence successful project outcomes.

The business works across Data Centres, Energy, Renewables and major Infrastructure projects throughout Ireland and Europe, supporting a portfolio of long-term, high-profile clients and programmes.

This is an environment designed for ambitious engineers who want accelerated career growth, hands-on exposure to major projects, and the opportunity to progress into leadership positions over time.

Professional development is actively supported, including chartership assistance, ongoing mentoring and structured career progression pathways.

Working Environment & Projects

Engineers work across the full project lifecycle — from tender support and pre-construction planning through to live programme management, delay analysis and project close-out.

Rather than operating within a siloed planning function, the role offers broad exposure across project controls, commercial awareness and client engagement. Team members are expected to contribute strategically to how projects are established and delivered successfully from the outset.

Projects typically include:

  • Large-scale Data Centre developments

  • Energy and Renewable Infrastructure

  • Civil and Structural Infrastructure projects

  • Complex construction programmes valued in excess of €200 million

Engineers work across multiple concurrent projects, spending approximately three days per week on-site while benefiting from flexible hybrid working arrangements.

The company places significant emphasis on development and progression:

  • Junior engineers gain experience in scheduling, reporting and critical path analysis

  • Intermediate and senior engineers take ownership of tender programmes, stakeholder management and live delivery planning

  • Long-term progression into leadership and divisional management is actively encouraged

Additional benefits include:

  • Half-day Fridays

  • Hybrid working model

  • Opportunities to work across UK and European projects for those interested in international exposure

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on experience level but may include:

  • Developing, maintaining and progressing construction programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project

  • Undertaking critical path analysis, delay analysis and recovery planning on live projects

  • Producing planning reports including progress updates, look-ahead programmes and earned value analysis

  • Supporting tender programme preparation for major construction projects

  • Coordinating with site teams, subcontractors and project managers to track project progress

  • Attending site meetings and contributing to programme discussions and risk identification

  • Liaising with client representatives and contractor planning teams to ensure programme alignment

  • Supporting senior planners and project leads across multiple live programmes

What You Need

  • Background in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 3 years’ practical site or project experience

  • Strong interest in planning, project controls and programme management

  • Understanding of construction delivery processes including procurement, site operations and design coordination

  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to work on-site regularly and travel where required

  • EU passport desirable for wider European project mobility

For Senior-Level Candidates

  • Experience leading tender programmes on projects valued above €200M

  • Ability to manage client relationships independently

  • Strong commercial and programme management capability

What You’ll Get in Return

Salary

€55,000 – €110,000+ depending on experience and level

Benefits

  • Pension contribution

  • Death in service cover

  • 25 days annual leave

  • Private healthcare

  • Wellbeing allowance

  • Mileage reimbursement for project travel

  • Performance-related bonus at senior levels

Beyond the package, this is a business focused on long-term development, professional growth and creating a collaborative, low-politics working environment where progression is based on performance and capability.
