What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the delivery of a major multi-year residential development. Reporting to an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor, this role will play a key part in managing the commercial performance of a flagship housing scheme.
This position has been created due to the scale and complexity of the development programme. The successful candidate will be involved in procurement, contractor management, cost planning, and commercial governance across multiple phases of the project.
This opportunity is well suited to a Project QS ready to step up, or an established Senior QS with experience in residential development or working with residential main contractors. Strong stakeholder management skills and experience on large-scale housing schemes will be important.

Responsibilities

Manage commercial aspects of a large-scale residential development.

Support cost planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting across multiple phases.

Manage procurement and tendering processes for contractor packages.

Oversee contract administration and variation management.

Monitor budgets and provide detailed commercial reporting to senior leadership.

Support risk management and cost control strategies.

Liaise with contractors, consultants, and key project stakeholders.

Contribute to value engineering and commercial decision-making.

Support final account negotiation and project close-out.
Criteria for the Role

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.

Typically 3–5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role.

Experience with residential developers or residential main contractors.

Exposure to large-scale housing or multi-unit developments.

Strong understanding of procurement, contract administration, and cost reporting.

Experience working with public sector or institutional stakeholders is beneficial.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Professional accreditation or working toward it is desirable.
