Job Description

About Our Client

Our client is a globally recognised cost consultancy with a strong UK presence and an established reputation for delivering advisory and commercial excellence across complex built environments. Operating across multiple international regions, the business is trusted by major public and private sector clients to support mission-critical programmes where cost certainty, governance and delivery assurance are paramount.

The consultancy specialises in technically demanding healthcare projects across the UK, working within acute, live and highly regulated environments. Their portfolio includes large-scale hospital developments, specialist clinical facilities and long-term healthcare investment programmes, delivered through a combination of traditional and modern procurement routes. The business is known for its depth of technical capability, robust commercial systems and ability to operate at scale.

As an employer, the consultancy offers a professional, well-structured environment with clear governance, strong leadership visibility and genuine investment in its people. Senior staff are given autonomy, exposure to complex work and the opportunity to progress within a global organisation that values long-term careers.

What They Are Looking For

They are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with circa 6+ years’ experience to join their UK healthcare cost management team. The role sits within a well-established regional business and reports to an Associate Director or Director, with direct responsibility for managing key client commissions.

The position has been created due to sustained growth within the healthcare sector and an expanding project pipeline. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead cost management services across multiple healthcare projects, acting as a trusted commercial advisor to clients while supporting governance, risk management and value outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

This role will suit a technically strong, client-facing quantity surveyor who enjoys working in complex environments, is comfortable taking responsibility, and is motivated by progressing toward Associate Director level within a global consultancy platform.

Why This Role Is Unique (Impact & Influence)

This opportunity offers exposure to some of the most complex and socially impactful projects in the UK construction market. Healthcare work demands a higher level of technical understanding, stakeholder engagement and commercial discipline, providing meaningful professional challenge and development.

The role also offers long-term career progression within a global consultancy, including access to international best practice, structured development pathways and the opportunity to move into senior leadership roles as the business continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver full pre- and post-contract cost management services on healthcare projects

  • Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates and financial reports

  • Manage procurement strategies, tender processes and contractor appointments

  • Administer contracts, variations and change control procedures

  • Lead cost reporting, CVRs and cash flow forecasting

  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and project risk

  • Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives

  • Manage final account negotiations and commercial close-out

  • Act as a key client-facing advisor and stakeholder interface

  • Support and mentor junior members of the cost management team

Criteria for the Role

  • Approximately 6+ years’ experience in cost consultancy or professional services

  • Experience delivering complex construction projects (healthcare preferred)

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

  • Chartered status (MRICS) preferred but not essential

  • Strong commercial awareness and technical cost management capability

  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills

  • Ability to manage workload autonomously while contributing to a wider team

What’s On Offer

The role offers a salary of £75,000, aligned with experience and chartership status, alongside pension and flexible working arrangements.

You will be supported through continued professional development, exposure to complex healthcare programmes, and a clear pathway toward Associate Director and senior leadership roles within a global consultancy environment.
