What they are looking for

Due to continued expansion and forward workload, the business is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator – Civil & Infrastructure to play a pivotal role in tendering and pre-contract strategy across major civil projects in Melbourne and beyond.

This is a senior, influential role within the estimating team, working closely with Pre-Contracts Leadership, Construction Directors and senior delivery teams. The position suits an estimator who thrives in first-principles estimating, enjoys mentoring others, and is motivated by stepping into a future Chief Estimator position as the business continues to grow.

You will sit at the centre of major bid decisions, shape estimating methodology, and directly influence how the business prices, wins and delivers work. Key responsibilities

• Lead first-principles estimating for major civil and infrastructure tenders

• Prepare detailed cost plans, BOQs and tender submissions from early feasibility through to final bid

• Develop and review methodologies, construction staging and risk allowances

• Lead tender reviews, value engineering initiatives and bid strategy sessions

• Collaborate closely with construction, engineering and commercial teams

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level estimators within the team

• Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to validate pricing and scope

• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes

Criteria for the role

• Strong experience as a Senior Estimator within civil & infrastructure construction

• Proven first-principles estimating capability on complex civil projects

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (preferred) or a related discipline

• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, productivity and risk

• Ability to operate at a senior level, influencing bid strategy and outcomes

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Ambition to progress into a future Chief Estimator or pre-contract leadership role
