Job Description

GEDON Executive is seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Estimating Manager to join a leading construction firm in Dublin. This is a pivotal, senior leadership role for a proven professional ready to drive the pre-construction phase and secure a significant pipeline of projects across the region.

As Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire estimating function. You'll set strategic direction, ensure bid accuracy and competitiveness, and lead a team to deliver winning commercial proposals for some of Ireland's most significant construction projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and manage the estimating department, developing and implementing winning commercial strategies for all major tenders.

  • Estimate Production: Oversee the preparation of detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for a diverse portfolio of projects.

  • Tender & Risk Management: Conduct high-level analysis of complex tender documents, assess commercial and technical risks, and lead all major bid reviews.

  • Procurement & Negotiation: Manage procurement strategies and engage with the supply chain to obtain competitive quotations from specialist subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, project teams, and clients to ensure alignment on project scope, cost, and commercial strategy.

  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in estimating processes, systems, and data management to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

 

What You'll Bring

 

  • Extensive Experience: Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in a senior estimating or leadership role, preferably within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor.

  • Commercial Prowess: Exceptional commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and strong negotiation skills on high-value projects.

  • Leadership Acumen: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and mentor an estimating team.

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional accreditation is highly desirable.

  • Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
