What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Commercial Manager to join its Newcastle-based team, playing a key role in the delivery of major data centre projects within the UK. This is a senior appointment within the commercial structure, working closely with project directors and regional leadership.
The role has been created to support the mobilisation and delivery of large-scale, technically complex programmes as part of the company’s UK growth strategy. The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial performance, contractual governance, and financial outcomes across major project scopes.
This position is ideally suited to a Commercial Manager with experience in mission-critical or highly complex environments, who is motivated by the opportunity to join a growing division and contribute to its long-term success.

Responsibilities

Take full commercial ownership of major data centre project scopes, ensuring strong financial performance and contractual compliance.

Lead cost control, forecasting, and reporting, including detailed CVRs and financial analysis.

Manage contractual obligations under main contracts and subcontracts, ensuring robust governance and risk management.

Lead the identification, valuation, and negotiation of variations, change events, and claims.

Develop and implement procurement strategies across key packages.

Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks within fast-track, technically complex environments.

Provide commercial leadership to project teams and support senior management with strategic decision-making.
Criteria for the Role

Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within a Tier 1 or major contractor environment.

Strong background in delivering mission-critical or highly complex projects.

Experience within data centres, life sciences, or other high-specification sectors is highly desirable.

Strong commercial, financial, and contractual acumen.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
