We are partnered with a respected cost consultancy that operates at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear, defence and highly regulated infrastructure sectors. The business provides commercial and cost management services to government bodies, defence organisations and critical national infrastructure operators, supporting programmes where governance, compliance and commercial rigour are paramount.

The consultancy maintains strong relationships across the UK’s nuclear and defence estate and is trusted to embed its commercial professionals directly within client teams. Their London office supports long-term frameworks and programmes of national importance, offering structured development pathways within a highly specialist environment.

The Opportunity

The consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join its London-based team and be seconded into nuclear facilities and defence-related programmes. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to some of the UK’s most secure and technically complex environments, working alongside senior commercial leaders and client representatives.

You will support the delivery of long-term, regulated programmes while developing specialist knowledge in NEC contracts, commercial governance and risk management within nuclear and defence settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Support cost and commercial management activities on nuclear and defence projects.
• Assist with cost planning, estimating, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Support contract administration, valuations, variations and change control processes.
• Maintain cost reports, forecasts, risk registers and programme documentation.
• Work closely with senior QSs, commercial managers and client-side stakeholders.
• Support procurement activities and supply chain engagement under supervision.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory and commercial governance requirements.
• Contribute to audit-ready documentation and reporting processes.

Required Experience & Background

• Experience as an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy or contractor environment.
• Exposure to infrastructure, engineering, construction or regulated environments preferred.
• Strong interest in working within nuclear, defence or critical national infrastructure sectors.
• Understanding of NEC contracts or a desire to develop expertise in NEC frameworks.
• Comfortable working in structured, process-driven and highly regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Actively working toward MRICS chartership or planning to commence APC.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and analytical capability.
• Professional, discreet and able to operate within secure environments.
• UK nationality and ability to obtain security clearance (or already cleared) advantageous.
