Job Description

GEDON Executive is seeking a skilled and ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a key part of a dynamic team, contributing to the commercial success and delivery of diverse and impactful infrastructure projects across the capital.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of infrastructure projects from inception through to final account. You'll play a vital role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Management: Assist in or lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for infrastructure projects.

  • Contract Administration: Administer contracts (e.g., NEC), including procurement, tendering, and the valuation of variations and compensation events.

  • Financial Control: Monitor and control project costs, identifying and reporting on variances against budget.

  • Risk Mitigation: Help identify and mitigate potential commercial risks and opportunities.

  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive cost reports and financial statements for internal review and client presentations.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise effectively with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to contractual terms and relevant UK construction regulations.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK civil engineering or infrastructure sector.

  • Contractual Knowledge: Good understanding of standard forms of construction contracts, particularly NEC.

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong analytical and numerical skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of working collaboratively within a project team.

  • Proactive Approach: A self-motivated and results-oriented mindset.

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CICES) is beneficial.
