Job Description

About Our Client

We are partnered with a leading international Tier 1 contractor delivering large-scale, technically complex facilities across Europe. The organisation is widely recognised for its ability to execute high-value construction programmes across mission-critical, commercial, and advanced manufacturing sectors, supported by strong governance, financial stability, and a highly experienced leadership team.

Their portfolio includes major developments requiring integrated delivery across civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines, often within fast-track environments and complex stakeholder frameworks. With a substantial pipeline of secured work across key European markets, the business continues to expand its footprint on flagship projects of significant scale.

As an employer of choice, the organisation offers long-term career development, exposure to major international programmes, and the opportunity to operate within a high-performance commercial environment.

What They Are Looking For

The business is seeking a commercially driven Commercial Manager to join its project team in Austria, taking responsibility for significant work packages on a major high-value facility. This is a key role within the project commercial structure, reporting into senior commercial leadership and working closely with project directors and delivery teams.

The role has been created to support the commercial management of a substantial portion of a large-scale project, with responsibility for cost control, contractual governance, and financial performance across assigned packages. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring strong commercial outcomes within a complex and fast-paced delivery environment.

This opportunity is ideally suited to either an experienced Commercial Manager seeking further growth on larger projects, or a high-performing Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a leadership role with greater ownership and responsibility.

Why This Role Is Unique

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a significant commercial scope within a major European project, providing exposure to high-value delivery and complex construction environments. You will play a central role in shaping commercial performance while working alongside experienced senior leadership.

With a strong pipeline of future work and clear progression pathways, this role offers both immediate impact and long-term career development within a leading international contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Take commercial ownership of major project packages, ensuring strong financial performance and contractual compliance.

  • Manage cost control, forecasting, and reporting, including detailed CVRs and financial analysis.

  • Administer main contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and commercial procedures.

  • Lead the identification, valuation, and negotiation of variations, change events, and claims.

  • Oversee procurement and commercial management of subcontractors across assigned scopes.

  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Provide commercial insight and reporting to senior project and regional leadership.

  • Support and mentor junior commercial team members where required.

Criteria for the Role

  • Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within a Tier 1 or major contractor environment.

  • Strong background in CSA or MEP packages on large-scale, technically complex projects.

  • Proven ability to manage commercial performance across significant project scopes.

  • Strong commercial, financial, and contractual acumen.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.

What’s On Offer

A highly competitive salary of €140,000, aligned with your experience and level.
The opportunity to take ownership of a major commercial scope within a large-scale European project.
A role suited to both step-up candidates and experienced Commercial Managers seeking progression.
Long-term career growth within a leading international contractor delivering complex, high-value builds.
