What They Are Looking For
Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to take ownership of commercial performance on a major European programme based in Vienna. The role sits at senior project leadership level and reports directly to regional or country-level commercial leadership.
This position has been created in response to significant project awards and continued expansion within the European market. The successful candidate will lead all commercial aspects of delivery, shaping strategy, managing risk, and ensuring strong commercial governance across complex project environments.
This role will suit a confident senior commercial professional who is comfortable operating at both strategic and delivery levels, balancing board-level reporting with hands-on leadership of commercial teams.

Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for commercial strategy and performance on the project

Leading cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting

Managing risk, opportunity, and commercial governance frameworks

Oversight of procurement strategy and major subcontractor negotiations

Contract administration and management of change control processes

Leadership, mentoring, and development of commercial teams

Managing client relationships and senior stakeholder engagement

Ensuring compliance with internal commercial controls and reporting standards

Supporting project leadership with strategic commercial advice
Criteria for the Role

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline

Significant experience in senior commercial roles on large or complex projects

Strong background in contractor-led environments

Proven ability to lead commercial teams and manage high-value packages

Excellent contractual and commercial acumen

Confident communicator at senior stakeholder and board level

Willingness to be based in Vienna on a long-term basis
What’s On Offer
