Job Description

About the business

We are partnered with a highly regarded, independent construction and project advisory consultancy with a strong reputation across Australia for planning, programming and project controls services. The business is trusted by major public and private sector clients to support the delivery of technically complex, high-profile developments across multiple asset classes.

With an established and growing presence in Brisbane, the team is actively involved in large-scale sporting infrastructure, major vertical builds, and complex commercial, residential, health and transport projects. The local office operates as a small, tight-knit team within a broader national platform, offering genuine collaboration, autonomy and long-term career progression for high performers.

The culture is professional but down-to-earth, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, teamwork and developing future leaders from within.

What they are looking for

Due to continued project wins and a strong forward workload, the business is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to strengthen its planning and project controls capability in Brisbane.

This role will see you working closely with senior leadership, clients and delivery teams on some of the most complex and high-value projects in the market. You’ll take ownership of construction programmes from early planning through to delivery, acting as a trusted advisor on time, sequencing, risk and project strategy.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical planning but is also motivated by progression, visibility and a clear pathway into leadership-level roles as the team continues to grow.

Why this role is unique

You’ll gain exposure to genuinely career-defining projects — from major sporting infrastructure and transport programs to large-scale commercial towers, residential developments and complex health facilities.

Unlike larger, siloed teams, this is a close-knit Brisbane group where your contribution is visible, valued and influential. The business has a clear growth strategy in Queensland, creating a genuine opportunity to step into Planning Manager, Associate or broader leadership roles over time for the right individual.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and manage construction programmes across major infrastructure and building projects
  • Lead planning inputs from early works and design through to delivery and completion
  • Provide expert advice on sequencing, methodology, risk and time management
  • Prepare baseline programmes, short-term lookaheads and recovery schedules
  • Monitor progress, analyse delays and provide mitigation strategies
  • Support EOT assessments, forensic analysis and programme reporting where required
  • Liaise closely with clients, consultants and contractor teams
  • Mentor and support junior planners as the team continues to grow
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of planning systems and best practice

Criteria

  • Proven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
  • Background across complex building or infrastructure sectors such as commercial, residential, health, transport or major venues
  • Strong technical capability in construction programming and schedule management
  • Proficiency with industry-standard planning software (e.g. Primavera P6)
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • Strong communication skills with client-facing experience
  • Ambition to progress into leadership and people management roles

What’s on offer

  • Salary package up to $230,000, depending on experience
  • Exposure to major, city-shaping projects across Brisbane and Queensland
  • Clear and realistic pathway into Planning Manager / leadership-level roles
  • A small, high-performing and collaborative local team environment
  • Strong professional development, mentoring and long-term career support
  • Flexible working arrangements and long-term role stability
