Job Description

About the business

We are partnered with a globally recognised, independent construction cost consultancy with a long-standing presence across Australia and major international markets. The business is known for its technical excellence in cost management, quantity surveying and advisory services across highly complex, services-led projects.

With a strong footprint in Queensland, the Brisbane team is deeply embedded in the delivery of major healthcare, mission-critical and data centre developments, alongside involvement in some of the most significant Olympic-related infrastructure and precinct programs currently underway. The culture is professional, collaborative and future-focused, with clear investment in people and long-term leadership capability.

What they are looking for

Due to sustained project wins and long-term workload certainty, the business is seeking an experienced MEP Cost Manager to strengthen its building services capability in Brisbane. This role sits at the intersection of technical delivery and client engagement, working closely with senior leadership on some of the most complex assets in the market.

You will take ownership of MEP cost management from early design through delivery, acting as a trusted commercial advisor to clients, consultants and delivery partners. This is a role for someone who enjoys technical depth but also wants visibility, influence and a clear pathway into future leadership roles.

Why this role is unique

This opportunity offers exposure to sector-defining projects where building services complexity genuinely matters — large tertiary hospitals, hyperscale and colocation data centres, and Olympic-driven developments that will shape Queensland for decades.

Beyond project exposure, the business has a clearly defined leadership succession plan, making this a genuine platform for progression into Associate Director and Director-level roles for high performers who want to lead teams, mentor others and influence the growth of the MEP cost management function.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead MEP cost management services across major health, data centre and complex building projects

  • Deliver cost planning, estimating and procurement advice from early design through construction

  • Provide technical leadership on building services scope, value engineering and risk management

  • Prepare detailed cost reports, cash flows and financial forecasts

  • Manage change control, variations and commercial reporting through delivery

  • Engage directly with clients, design teams and contractors as a trusted advisor

  • Support and mentor junior cost managers within the MEP team

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes and best practice

Criteria

  • Proven experience delivering MEP / building services cost management on complex building projects

  • Background in healthcare, mission-critical, data centres or similarly services-intensive assets

  • Strong technical capability across cost planning, estimating and commercial management

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or similar

  • Professional membership (or working towards) with RICS, AIQS or equivalent

  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing experience

  • Ambition to progress into leadership and people management roles

What’s on offer

  • Exposure to some of the largest and most complex MEP-led projects in Queensland

  • Clear, structured pathway into Associate Director and Director-level leadership

  • Strong professional development, mentoring and career support

  • Flexible working environment with a high-performing, respected team

  • Long-term role stability within a globally recognised consultancy brand
