What They Are Looking For

Due to sustained project demand and strategic growth, the business is seeking an Associate Director to join its senior leadership team in Sydney. This appointment is designed to strengthen the firm’s capability at the highest technical and client-facing level.

The role will suit a senior Quantity Surveyor who has moved beyond pure delivery and is now operating as a trusted commercial advisor — someone capable of leading major commissions, guiding clients through complex cost and risk decisions, and developing high-performing teams. You will be given significant autonomy while working closely with Directors on strategic planning, client management and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services on complex building projects

• Act as the primary commercial and strategic advisor to key private and institutional clients

• Oversee cost planning, procurement strategies, tendering, contract administration and final accounts

• Provide senior-level review and sign-off of cost reports, forecasts and commercial advice

• Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risk across multiple commissions

• Lead, mentor and develop senior and mid-level QS professionals within the business

• Support business development activity through client engagement, repeat work and referrals

• Contribute to internal systems, governance, and best-practice cost management frameworks

Criteria

• Extensive consultancy-based quantity surveying experience within the Australian construction market

• Proven capability across both pre- and post-contract cost management

• Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing senior client relationships

• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to influence stakeholders

• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar

• Professional membership (AIQS, RICS or equivalent) highly regarded
