GEDON Executive is seeking a skilled and experienced MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Quantity Surveyor to join a prominent construction or consultancy firm in Sydney, NSW. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional to apply their expertise on a diverse portfolio of complex building services projects and contribute to the commercial success of a dynamic organisation.

As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will be instrumental in managing the commercial aspects of mechanical, electrical, and public health installations, providing expert cost advice and ensuring value for clients from concept to completion.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Management: Prepare accurate cost plans, feasibility studies, and detailed estimates for MEP services across various project stages.

  • Procurement: Advise on procurement strategies, prepare tender documentation, and evaluate bids from M&E contractors.

  • Contract Administration: Administer M&E contracts, including valuation of variations, interim payments, and final accounts.

  • Cost Control & Reporting: Monitor and control project costs, track expenditure, and provide comprehensive cost reports and forecasts to clients.

  • Risk Management: Identify and assess commercial risks related to MEP installations and advise on mitigation strategies.

  • Value Engineering: Proactively identify value engineering opportunities to optimise cost without compromising quality or performance.

  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, and contractors, providing expert commercial advice.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy or a large M&E contractor in Australia.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and public health systems and their associated costs.

  • Commercial Acumen: Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Contractual Expertise: Solid knowledge of standard forms of contract relevant to building services in the Australian market.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field. Professional accreditation (e.g., AIQS) is highly desirable.
